Tasting Notes:
Kirin’s newest edition to its Nodogoshi line is Special Time. This new genre brew touts the use of 100% barley, in the form of malt, barley, and grain alcohol. Targeting beer drinking men and women in their 30’s, Special Time is crafted for a sophisticated flavor.

Poured into the glass, Special Time has a distinct golden hue and a nice malty nose. Taking a sizable sip, the front end has an acidic white wine quality to it. Decent malt and a round, full mouth-feel crosses the tongue. On the finish, the tartness puckers the cheeks and throat, but it stays clean with a decent amount of bitterness.

For an easy on the pocketbook new genre brew, Kirin’s Special Time is quite enjoyable. What is interesting is that it does drink like a dry white wine, and would pair nicely with simple appetizers to start an evening as well as a lighter main course. This new genre is special, indeed.
