In its 13th year of production, Kirin has brewed its Ichiban Shibori Toretate Hop with “Ibuki” hops from Tono in Iwate Prefecture. This all malt beer was created to have a clean taste, yet still have full flavor.
Toretate Hop pours out a golden color in the glass, the fragrance from the fresh hops gives of a wonderfully green, grassy aroma with hints of lemon peel. The first gulp is very citrusy, full with a very clean refreshing maltiness to it. The flavors tapper off on the back end, sliding down the throat without too much bitterness. This leaves a somewhat malty finish, with the fresh grassy notes lingering in the background.
The 2016 version of Ichiban Toretate Hop quite tasty. Reviewing my notes from last year, I believe it has the same make up. However, whether it be my mood or personal taste changes, I find it more satisfying this year, especially getting to the bottom of the glass.
