Created for the fall and winter seasons this year, Suntory has crafted two versions of limited new genre brews. The first of which is entitled Hop Time PM6:00, which features the floral aromas of Hallertau Blanc hops and brewed with a late hopping method to bring out the flavor.
PM6:00 pours out a nice golden color in the glass, with a rich fragrance of flowers on the head. The first gulp is full and rich of malt, while the hops immediately present a wonderful full bitterness. The transition on the back end is nice, but loses some of its maltiness and richness. Through the glass the flavors lighten quickly giving away its new genre roots.
This new genre brew has incredible flavor up front. However, the staying power of those flavors is a bit of a disappointment. Taken into context, if this were a true beer I would give a thumbs down, however given its price point as a new genre brew Hop Time PM6:00 is top notch. I love the distinct grassy notes the Hallertau hops give to this brew and the wonderful bitterness they impart. It’s definitely not your average new genre.
