Kirin’s entry into the fall limited new genre brews comes from its Nodogoshi line with Yoru Nodogoshi. This low malt brew touts 100% barley, being brewed with malt, barley, and added barley alcohol for a rich flavor.
Yoru Nodogoshi pours a somewhat deeper golden color than most new genre brews, and has a very malty aroma coming off the head. The first gulp is lighter than expected, very smooth with a toned down flavor, a little on the sweet side. On the backend, the bitterness is refined as well, giving a clean finish.
It’s not a “light beer” in any way, so while having a somewhat fuller body while keeping the flavors in check, I’m experiencing a very laid back end of the evening type brew. While I do prefer the bolder flavored beers, Yoru Nodogoshi serves that in-between market, someone who wants a little more flavor, but nothing too heavy.
