In a follow up to the spring release of Haru no Shunaji, Suntory created Aki no Shunaji as its limited fall new genre brew. Featuring aroma hops and dark malt, Aki no Shunaji is stated to have a mellow flavor that matches the flavors of Japan’s autumn dishes.
A dark amber color in the glass, Aki no Shunaji has an enticing nose of roasted malt with those flavors showing themselves in the first gulp. This brew is very smooth and round, having a nice bitterness on the backend. However, it does lack the depth you’d find in a true Japanese beer.
For a low priced new genre, Aki no Shunaji appeals to the pocketbook as well as the mouth. Suntory does a lot of these roasted malt type beers and excels at bringing a low-cost, tasty beer alternative to the average joe. For those looking for a great tasting new genre brew for fall, Suntory’s Aki no Shunaji will fulfill your need.
