Purchase Price: ¥105 @Aeon

Tasting Notes:
From it’s Mugi to Hop line, Sapporo has released its limited fall new genre, Aki no Kaori Mugi. This brew uses slow roasted barley malt to impart a full rich flavor.

This new genre pours out a deep amber in the glass, having a malty nose and roasted malt notes. Its medium body gives a warming, cozy flavor with a very round mouthfeel and taste. Aki no Kaori Mugi finishes with a generous amount of bitterness, while not being too sharp.

Interestingly, Aki no Kaori Mugi has a similar flavor to Space Barley. Since it was released around the same time, could it possibly be the same? I don’t know. In any case, this brew has a nice depth to it that makes it pair well with Japan’s seasonal dishes. I really like Aki no Kaori Mugi; it’s one of the best in the Mugi to Hop family.

I drank several cans but it seems to be completely sold out in my area already. It’s a steal for the price I think and much better than Suntory’s Aki no Shunaji.

Yeah, Sapporo really did a great job with this one. All the fall beers are coming off the shelves to make way for the winter brews… it doesn’t even seem like fall is here yet!
