Tasting Notes:
Asahi’s second release in support of Japan’s Olympic team in Rio is Gold Rush. As the Olympics come to a close today it’s fitting that I finally get this review out. As with Victory Road, this new genre is brewed in Brazilian fashion, a lighter body and a blend of five different kinds of hops.

Gold Rush pours into the glass with a bright straw color, and has a nice fresh malty fragrance that comes off the head. The first gulp is very light yet has slight citrusy notes to it. It finishes clean with a decent amount of bitterness.

It would appear that Asahi went back to the drawing board after their Victory Road brew. Gold Rush is a wonderful new genre brew for summer, very light, clean, and refreshing. For my tastes, it really doesn’t have any drawbacks at all, so I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner. Asahi Gold Rush definitely has a place on my grocery list, and luckily can still be found on store shelves.
