Tasting Notes:
Kirin’s newest seasonal limited brew for its new genre Nodogoshi line is Summer Special. It features the use of American Cascade hops and a dose of carbonation providing a refreshing beverage this summer.

A golden tinge graces the glass as Summer Special is poured. On the nose is a slightly tangy bitterness along with some lychee and citrus notes. The first gulp is quite fruity from the start, a little sweet but in a good way. It stays smooth and fruity across the tongue and leaves the throat with a wonderful amount of bitterness that lingers and builds throughout the glass, finishing with a nice tang in the background.

For a new genre brew, Nodogoshi Summer Special is top notch. It’s currently the best brew in this category I’ve tried so far this summer and even tops some of the “Japanese beers” I’ve sampled recently. I will have to consider stocking my fridge with Nodogoshi Summer Special while it’s still on store shelves.

I was so close to picking up a can of this just last night. I opted for a Takara shio lemon sour. It was a step above the usual chu hi. Given your favorable review, I will try this soon!

I don’t drink the regular version, but they’ve been doing great seasonal brews. Definitely give it a try and let me know the results.
