Suntory’s The Premium Malt’s first batch of the year is released with its Hatsu-Jikomi label and although they released canned versions, the small bottle was the only one I could find this year. Inside this premium pilsner you’ll find fine aroma hops from Saaz, Diamond malt procured from Czech and its neighboring countries, as well as Suntory’s famous pure spring water, straight and simple as beer should be.
Poured into the glass you’ll find your usual bright color, its aroma is fresh with a citrusy tang. The first gulp is nice a full up front crossing the palate with a continuous bitterness that runs down the throat. In the background are hints of lemon rind and shiso leaf.
The Premium Malt’s Hatsu-jikomi remains a very nice drinking beer that is very straight forward, staying on the safe side. If you prefer your beers on the bitter side, Hatsu-jikomi will suite you just fine.
