Tasting Notes:
In a push for craft beer production, Sapporo has created its very own craft brewery called Japan Premium Brew, KK. under which this Pale Ale is produced. Officially titled Kankitsu Kaoru Pale Ale, meaning fragrance of citrus, this all malt beer features Polaris and Citra hops to create a very flavorful brew not normally found on store shelves in Japan.

Poured into the glass, this beer has a very dark color with a lovely hoppy fruity aroma. It is full in the mouth and those hops do give it a strong citrusy flavor. It has a nice malty body and is easy drinking.

For a “craft” beer from a Big Four brewer, Kankitsu Kaoru Pale Ale does not over do it with flavor, remaining in the safe zone. Still, this beer is a step beyond your standard fare, and those who are used to chugging down Japanese lagers will appreciate a change of pace in this fruity, citrusy easy drinking ale.
