Following in the footsteps of Radler’s success is Radler Party Label Blood Orange & Lemon. Brewed using “umami malt” and Suntory’s decoction method for a satisfying taste, they added just the right amount of flavor to make this brew popular with the Japanese young people and the ladies. The moral of the story is, if you’re having a party and have invited some young ladies, you’d better have this one stocked in the cooler.
Expecting a more reddish hue, I was surprised to find Radler Party Label to be a very pale straw. Of course, the aroma is unlike any brew I’ve drunk recently. It has very sweet orange taffy like fragrance, along with a nice dose of ascorbic acid (just like a jar of kids’ vitamin C). The first gulp tastes of orange and lemon, sweet but not overboard. And, it still feels like a you’re drinking a beer.
I don’t like to drink a lot of fruity sweet carbonated beverages, but this Blood Orange and Lemon Radler hits the spot. I can still taste the “beer” and when mixed with the sweet citrus flavors, which makes for a refreshing change from the day to day lager. If you can still find it, give this Radler a shot!
