Following the release of Dortmunder, Sapporo has brewed up its latest offering in the European Tradition Series: Vienna. This all malt beer is the third release for 7&i Holdings and touts 100% European malt including Vienna Malt that gives its color.
The qualities of this beer show in its reddish hue. Pouring Vienna into the glass releases its malty aroma along with slightly sweet yet crisp notes. It has a very clean mouthfeel at the start, while its flavors are quite subtle, slowly releasing themselves across the palate, concentrating in the back of the throat. Hints of charcoal and dark caramel come along side a bit of tang and nice amount of bitterness on the finish.
As far as the European Tradition Series is concerned, Vienna is one of the more “normal” beers. It’s quite a nice beer to drink, but its flavor profile is commonplace in the current market. If you have a 7-11 near you, do go out an get yourself a can. However, Vienna is not something you’ll be kicking yourself about when it’s sold out.
