In an unusual move for Asahi, they have chosen to produce an all malt beer for their third release in the Craftsmanship line, Dry Saison. It is brewed with top fermenting yeast and uses Citra Hops. Previous releases in this series have been very good, so I’ve got high hopes for this one.
Dry Saison is a golden straw color in the glass. The fruitiness from the hops comes out on from tip of the tongue, along with a decent amount of malt. There’s also quite a bit of effervescence to keep things refreshing. The finish is a very Asahi dry, with just the bitterness left in the throat.
The flavors of Asahi’s Craftsmanship series in combination with its easy-drinking style make this series a favorite of mine. Dry Saison continues to satisfy, providing an easy drinking beer with fruity hops and just the right amount of bitterness to keep you reaching for that blue can over the course of the night. Maybe that’s the reason why these beers keep disappearing off the store shelves before I can get my hands on another.
