Asahi’s newest addition to the Clear line is Clear Asahi Crystal Clear, a summer limited new genre brew. Crystal Clear is brewed using sub-zero filtration and storage processes along with hops that have been processed at below freezing temperatures for increased bitterness.
Crystal Clear pours out an expectedly light straw in the glass easily forming a smooth creamy head that bubbles off fairly quickly. The first gulp has a smooth hoppy edge, while remaining very clean tasting. Most of the flavor comes at the front and mid-palate, but drops off before hitting the throat. It does have a sharp finish like Asahi Super Dry’s Extra Sharp.
For a summer thirst quencher, Crystal Clear does the job. Its light clean taste is very refreshing, and with a lower alcohol content it’s one you can drink until the sun goes down. However, those who do prefer a little more flavor and bitterness will find disappointment as Crystal Clear does taste a tad watered down.
