Tasting Notes:
Once again in its 10th year, Kirin has released the 2013 vintage of Kirin Toretate Hop. As always, this Japanese beer features recently harvested hops from Tono, Iwate Prefecture and is brewed in Kirin’s Ichiban Shibori method.

Toretate Hop pours out the usual golden hue in the glass, with a very light aroma coming off the head. It has a freshness that is toned down this year in comparison to previous years I have sampled. This beer starts out quite light on the front end with a mildly hoppy flavor and slight bitterness comes in on the back.

Kirin Ichiban Toretate Hop is another winter beer I want to stock my fridge with every year. It’s a very nice drinking beverage that has a slightly different flavor than your daily Japanese lager. Give it a shot while it’s on store shelves!

First time trying this. I liked it better than plain Ichiban Shibori.

Toretate Hop does have a more appealing flavor than the standard Ichiban. I little freshness and more bitterness. It’s too bad they don’t make this all year round.
