Asahi has recently released its new brew Asahi Funwari with talent Rola (pronounced Lola or Laura, I’m not sure) in the commercials. If Beers of Japan (BoJ) were to interview her, I’d imagine it would go something like this:
BoJ: Rola, thank you for taking time out of your schedule to talk with Beers of Japan about Asahi Funwari.
BoJ: Ok. Well, first of all, what brought you to be the spokesperson for Asahi’s Funwari.
BoJ: It looks as if Funwari’s clean white package and the beverage’s flavor profile targets women, would you agree?
BoJ: In our taste tests, we noticed Asahi Funwari had a crisp refreshing flavor, but tasted more like a malt juice, with its citrus notes than a beer-like drink. What’s your take?
BoJ: Do you think this new genre brew from Asahi appeal to the average beer drinker? We’re leaning towards no.
BoJ: Rola, thank you again for your time. We look forward to seeing you in your next Asahi commercial.
Rola: アサヒ ふんわり飲んでね♡
And there you have it. If you’re looking for a low cal (18 kCal/100mL), low alcohol (between 2-3%) brew, Funwari will fit the bill. It’s got a decent fruity flavor, but might not appeal to the average beer drinker.
