Kin no Off is Sapporo’s latest venture into the diet beer-taste beverage market. It has 70% lower carbs and a 50% reduction in purine (the stuff that breaks down into uric acid, which can lead to gout).
Popping the top, the aroma was not of beer, but a metallic can stench. Kin no Off’s flavor is quite far from beer or any other diet beer-taste beverage, more closer to medicine. My first gulp ended up being my last.
It’s not often that I can’t force myself to drink what is in front of me, but in this case, it was quite easy. Kin no Off is a big thumbs down, there are much tastier options on the Japanese market if you’re trying to watch your waistline.
