Yebisu Asuka Cruise Maroyaka Jukusei

Japanese Name: ヱビス Asuka Cruise まろやか熟成
Brewer: Sapporo
Release: Summer 2010
Type: Beer (ビール)
Alcohol: 5.5%
Purchase Price: ¥294 (350mL) Family Mart

Tasting Notes:
In celebration of Yebisu’s 120th Anniversary, they have canned a limited edition beer only served on the Asuka II Cruise Liner. This beer utilizes more malt than their normal brew, which produces a well rounded deep flavor, with higher bitterness factor. The bitterness tends to linger at the back of your throat well after your first sip.

On the downside, I found a little “flatness” after my second and third sips… the bubbles seemed to have dissipated. At ¥294 per 350mL can, makes this one of the most expensive beers produced from the major distributors. This is not a beer that the average Joe will be throwing back on a daily basis.

The bottom line is that it’s a solid lager at a hefty price. I definitely would like to try this one on tap.
