Kirin Akiaji

Japanese Name: 秋味 (Aki-Aji)
Brewer: Kirin
Release: Summer 2010 (Aug 25)
Type: Beer (ビール)
Alcohol: 6%
Purchase Price: ¥285?? (500mL)

Tasting Notes:
2010 marks the 20th release of Kirin’s Autumn brew. At 6% alcohol, it’s a little stronger than most Japanese beers. Unfortunately, the alcohol taste is quite strong, overpowering some of the normal hoppiness you’d expect from Kirin. There is some nice bitterness happening, which is very pleasant if you like that flavor in your beer.

  1. If you haven’t had it already, I’d recommend having one of these this year. I didn’t feel that strong alcohol taste this year (like I have in the past). If you have had it, like to hear your thoughts. This is a simple beer, but I think Kirin’s hop profile is good for a Fall brew.

Anthony, I actually haven’t had this year’s Aki Aji, yet. I wasn’t going to get it, but since you’re recommending it I’ll check it out (if I can still find it). At three years old, it’s time to renew the review 🙂
